Job Description

The Plainedge School District seeks qualified candidates to fill a leave replacement position as an English Language Arts Teacher in the High School from August 27, 2026 - November 30, 2026.  Candidates must be able to:

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction based on the New York State Next Generation ELA Learning Standards
• Develop and implement lesson plans that support literacy development, critical thinking, and analytical skills
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs
• Use a variety of assessment methods to monitor student progress and inform instruction
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student voice and collaboration
• Integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across all units of study
• Utilize instructional technology and digital resources to enhance learning

Job Qualifications

Candidates must have NYS English Language Arts 7-12 certification and requisite NYSED fingerprint clearance.
