Job Description

A Speech Teacher leave replacement position is available from September 2024 through February 3, 2025.  This position will be in the elementary and middle schools.  The purpose of this job is to provide evaluation and intervention to enhance a student's level of communicative functioning in order for him/her to participate in the school environment.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

• Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
• Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
• Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
•  Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
• Handle other tasks as assgined.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

• NYS Speech and Language Disabilities (All Grades) Certification required.
• Speech and Language Pathologist license strongly preferred.
• Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome and the intellectually disabled population required.
• Working knowledge of Augmentative Communication devices including Proloquo2Go and TouchChat with Work Power also required.
